  • Open the app 
  • Tap on the signup tab (not log in tab) 
  • Enter your phone number (the number that has the registration fee on mobile money and has to be registered in your names) 
  • Tap the Verify tab 
  • Enter OTP sent to your phone number via SMS 
  • Enter personal information (First and last name, Date of birth, NIN number) 
  • Submit your email and location/address 
  • Enter sponsor code(optional) 
  • Set and confirm the PIN 
  • Proceed to log in and submit the KYC documents. 
  • At this stage, you can pay the 50k registration fees by tapping on the deposit/withdrawal tab on the home page

You pay a one-time registration fee of 50,000 (but it is important to note that there is a telecom charge when paying, so one needs to have about 53,000/- on their mobile money account).  

Upon making a payment for registration, you will be approved as an agent on the Chap Chap App in less than 24 hours.

  1. You need to share KYC with us so your Chapchap account can be licensed to access the mobile money service.  
  1. It can also mean that if you have completed submitting your KYC documents, your documents are under review and you may soon be licensed to carry out Mobile Money transactions on your ChapChap App. This error message comes in when an account isn’t licensed.
    The KYC you share with us is a requirement by the regulator.

KYC means “Know Your Customer,” and therefore it stands for documentation that helps     the company know the agents better. To have access to all ChapChap services, you will be required to verify your identity by providing your KYC documents  

These documents are; 

  1. NATIONAL ID (both sides)
  2. A PICTURE OF YOUR FACE (selfie)
  3. A FULL PICTURE OF YOURSELF TAKEN WHILE HOLDING YOUR NATIONAL ID
  4. A PICTURE OF THE BUSINESS LOCATION (business premises or a photo of your home).
  5. SIM CARD NAME SHOULD MATCH THE NAMES ON YOUR NATIONAL ID
  • Scan the required documents one by one during the registration process. 
  • Tick and go to the next photo until you reach the last one, then click upload to capture them in the system. 
  • Should that fail, please share your KYC on chat and we will upload the KYC through the back end and thereafter license your account. 

    If the right KYC is shared it takes a few hours for it to be verified/the account to be licensed. NOTE; Please note that KYC is necessary for you to be able to do mobile money services on the platform but without KYC you can still do airtime and bill transactions If you load float e.g. water, yaka, TV only.

Open your ChapChap Application
Tap on the ADD FLOAT option on the top right corner of your app, and choose the BANKS option.
1. Stanbic Bank Agent instant free top-up – Go to a Stanbic bank agent, ask for ChapChap among their “Billers or Corporate” hand them your cash, and tell them your ChapChap phone number, and they will Add your Float instantly.  
2. Equity Bank Manual top-up – Deposit your cash in our Equity Bank account and send us your receipt via BANK DEPOSIT CHAT (in the app). 

NOTE: Taxes and charges will be deducted from your float if you use a different bank to deposit on our Equity account. Also please note that these are Equity Bank charges, not ChapChap charges. We advise you to use a direct agent of Equity Bank.
For Stanbic Bank, your float will instantly reflect on your ChapChap account after depositing.

  • Open your ChapChap application
  • Select the TOPUP/Add fload icon
  • The network of the number you registered will be displayed (e.g., MTN or Airtel, as you can    only add float from the number you registered on ChapChap 
  • Enter your phone number and the desired amount. 
  • Select “Proceed” and enter your Mobile Money PIN to authorize the payment. 

Note: Adding float using Mobile Money incurs transaction fees (charges and taxes) from the telecom. It’s not advisable to use this method to add float as it is expensive.

     Please note that you can transfer money to our accounts and send us proof of transfer so we can top up the money as float on your Chapchap account. e.g Stanbic to our Stanbic account, Equity to equity transfers are free, and also for those who stay in Dubai can transfer from Stanchart to our Stanbic account. 
Please note that sometimes RTGS take longer to reflect on our end, like 24 to 48 hours so the need to plan in advance on when to load float.
NOTE: The maximum amount of float you can have as your float balance is Ush 10m and the minimum amount you can load is 10,000 ugx.

To share float with a ChapChap agent you tap on the PAY icon and then choose SHARE FLOAT, input the ChapChap number as well as the amount, and confirm with your pin. this service is free of charge. 

HOW TO SHARE FLOAT WITH MTN MOBILE MONEY AGENTS
This usually happens when you have a lot of float and need to share it out so you can get cash.
To send float to MTN agent lines, you tap the Pay Icon on your home screen, then choose the mtn Tab, enter the agent’s mobile money 10-digit number i.e 0772… and the amount you want to send them as float, confirm the agent name and then confirm the transaction with your pin.  
You are charged depending on the amount you send so you need to add it to the amount you are sending as float so they get the exact amount you want to send them.
The MTN agent will receive it as float on their mobile money account. 

NOTE; You can share float with MTN agents but they can’t share float with you as a chapchap agent.
